Just a note to announce that from February I’ll be moving, after 18 years at the University of Gloucestershire, to take up a new role at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. The SOAS announcement is below.
Director of the new Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching (CILT) at SOAS announced
SOAS has appointed the first head of the new Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching CILT) at SOAS. Dr David Webster is currently Head of Learning & Teaching Innovation at the University of Gloucestershire. He blogs at davewebster.org, and is on Twitter at @davidwebster. Ian Pickup, Deputy COO said: “I am delighted we have been able to appoint David to this important role for SOAS to which he brings a wealth of understanding and experience. The Centre for Innovation in Learning & Teaching will build on the work of the Learning and Teaching Development team, supporting technology-enhanced learning, academic and curriculum development and student retention and success. The Centre will be a key vehicle to support delivery of the School’s Learning and Teaching strategy and a catalyst for pedagogic innovation. ”
David Webster said: “I am really excited to be joining SOAS to lead the Centre for Innovation in Learning & Teaching. The Centre will model and promote research-led academic practice, in line with the values of SOAS. While this won’t look the same for every tutor, every student or every course, I hope to work towards a common pedagogic ethos, of innovation for inclusion and attainment”
David took his first degree in Religious Studies and Philosophy at Sunderland Polytechnic in the late 1980s, and a Masters in Contemporary British Hinduism (MLitt) at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. He completed a PhD in Buddhist Studies with Professor Peter Harvey at the University of Sunderland.
